My name is Deepa Rao and I am a 22 year old scientist, artist, and lover of nature. I consider myself a citizen of the world: an eclectic mix of color & spice loving Indian, Southwestern mystique, and scientific curiosity.

I love to think big about the little things in life; and shrink the big things down to bite-size pieces.

My mind seems to always meander into one realm: the complexity of our biosphere. Specifically, how human action is affecting our planet’s current balance. Over the years, I’ve realized that the first step to solving any global problem is to increase awareness through education. Why not do so through mediums that everyone can relate to? Like through…

Whether expressed through visual, auditory, literary, or culinary forms, art is a universal human language that helps us tell our stories and share our ideas. Stories, much like seeds, have enormous potential. If planted in the right conditions and nurtured, they can engender great growth.

My personal story is inspired by the wonders of nature. I want to highlight the beauty and interconnectedness of our world from the simply subtle to the simply sublime–the great symbiosis that is life.
